Calling all budding food growers!
Community Foodie is a project to identity, develop and support community food growing in the rural areas of The Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend and Torfaen.
The project is supported by the Rural Development Plan for Wales, which is funded by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
Its key aim is to strengthen communities by increasing the amount of produce grown and consumed locally.
In addition to this it aims to introduce valuable skills, support healthy lifestyles and bring people of all ages together, whilst raising awareness of the wider beneficial impacts of growing locally produced food.
1:Bringing together landowners and local people to identify suitable growing sites. Helping with planning permissions, leases and the red tape stuff!
2:Helping you to identify the most suitable growing model. We can offer opportunities to visit other garden projects and meet other community gardeners to see how they do it.
3:Providing you access to legal and technical advice. As part of a national network of food growing programmes we can get access to advice and recommendations for you.
4:Providing you access to legal and technical advice. As part of a national network of food growing programmes we can get access to advice and recommendations for you.
5:Helping you to supply surplus within your community. Linking you up with buyers for your food when you want to sell.
6:Support you to form links with other community growing projects. With this website and our Facebook and Twitter sites you can meet other groups and gardeners and get support from each other.
7:Financial support to get your project up and running. Yes we do have a small budget and we can help you source funding from elsewhere if we can't help.
