Peterston Villagers turn out in force to plant more trees at community Welsh/Heritage Orchard

Foodie supported Peterston Connect a local voluntary group to help create a Welsh heritage community orchard at the start of the year.

As well as providing fresh local fruit the community orchard will serve as an educational resource to promote sustainable growing methods, develop skills and knowledge of maintaining fruit trees and build awareness of biodiversity and the importance of supporting pollinating insects.

A year later and the group have received so amazing support from the rest of the community in the form of donating 21 new trees! These were again Welsh/heritage variety and a range of top fruits. Some of the trees have extra special meaning as they were in memory of lost ones.

This time the group sourced them from Dolau-hirion based in Llandeilo http://www.applewise.co.uk/
